Mount Isa East

QLD – 85%

The Mount Isa East Project comprises five tenements covering a combined area of ~1,300 km2 in the Mount Isa district of north-west Queensland. The Project is centred ~30 km SE of the town of Mount Isa and 900 km west of Port facilities at Townsville.

Project Overview

The district has a long history of copper production and Mt Isa is the major regional administrative, commercial and mining centre of the district, providing excellent access to infrastructure and potential third party processing options for any future discoveries.

Cooper is exploring for Iron oxide copper gold (IOCG) and shear hosted copper-gold mineralisation.  Copper-gold mineralisation is common throughout the Kalkadoon-Ewen and Eastern Fold Belt Provinces. This style of mineralization has provided the bulk of historical copper production in the Mount Isa Inlier and is spatially associated with fault and shear systems.   One of the more notable deposits in the area is Barbara Deposit which has a mineral resource estimate of 4.7mt @ 1.6% Cu and 0.15g/t Au (Syndicated Metals website July 2021)

The Project area targets a strong network of shear zones and breccias between two major regional structures that are associated with Cu-Au-rich mineralization. Previous exploration has identified several Cu-Au prospects in the Project area that warrant follow up exploration.  The Company has undergone a review of historical data and intends to conduct further groundwork including geochemical mapping and sampling, geophysics prior to drill testing ranked targets.
